Turkey, Qatar to carry out joint naval exercises

As part of their bilateral military coordination, Turkish and Qatari naval forces will carry out joint exercises in Qatar’s territorial waters on Sunday and Monday, AlKhaleejonline reported.

The Qatari Ministry of Defence made the announcement and timings of the drills after the arrival of the Turkish frigate TCG GOKOVA to Hamad Seaport in the east of Doha.

According to the statement, Major-General Mohamed bin Naser al-Muhanadi, admiral of the Qatari naval forces, visited the Turkish frigate which is due to take part in the exercises.

During the visit, Al-Muhanadi was briefed by Turkey’s Colonel Hassan Izyarat about the frigate’s capabilities, its power and advanced weapon technology.
