Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika on Tuesday appointed his office chief, Ahmed Ouyahia, as prime minister, replacing Abdelmadjid Tebboune, who had been in office for only 79 days.

"According to the same constitutional provision, and after consulting the parliamentary majority, the president entrusted Ahmed Ouyahia with the Premiership," the statement added.
