Hamas must dissolve its administrative committee and end its control over Gaza before it can join the Palestinian National Council (PNC) meeting, Fatah spokesperson Osama Al-Qawasmi has announced.

Al-Qawasmi said that the Palestinian Authority (PA) seeks to strengthen the Palestinian representation and the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO) ahead of its participation in the United Nations General Assembly convention.

Fatah, he noted, supports the holding of the PNC meeting in Ramallah. A video link will be available for those who will be unable to attend due to restrictions imposed by the Israeli occupation authorities.

Al-Qawasmi stressed that the PLO is the only internationally-recognised representative of all the national factions.

He urged Hamas to participate in the next PNC meeting, stressing that it must “give up its control over the Gaza Strip, dissolve the administrative committee, and enable the national unity government to operate in Gaza freely” in order to be allowed to attend the meeting.
