Iran is building a factory in north-west Syria in order to manufacture long-range rockets, an Israeli television report said on Tuesday.

The TV report displayed satellite images of the factory’s site which it said is under construction.

Israel’s Channel 2 news reported the footage had been taken by an Israeli satellite and it showed the missile factory’s location in north-west Syria near the Mediterranean coastal town of Baniyas. The images, the channel said, indicated that explosives would be stored in that location.

The report added that the images of the building in Syria look very similar to images of a rocket factory near Tehran, Iran.
