August 29, 2017 at 11:47 am

Fourteen people were killed in Egypt when a bus fell off a bridge after a collision with a van, the Ministry of Health reported today.

Traffic accidents are common in Egypt, where many roads are poorly maintained and road traffic and careless driving lead to many accidents annually in the country.

The accident today comes after a month of deadly road incidents in Egypt. Earlier this month a collision between two buses killed five people and injured 54 on a highway near the city of Suez. The accident came barely a week after two trains collided and killed 36 people and injured 100 others.

The last time a crash caused a significant amount of casualties was in 2006 when around 51 people were killed when two commuter trains collided near Cairo.
