Iran successfully tests surface-to-air missile system

Iran announced a successful test of its surface-to-air missile defence system “Bavar 373”, which is similar to the Russian system “S-300”.

Iran’s Air Defence Chief Farzad Esmaili said that the new system has been fully completed and it is expected to start service by March 2018, adding that the system is entirely made in Iran.

Iran has launched a project to build its new missile defence system after Russia decided  to suspend the delivery of the S-300 system because of international sanctions in 2010.
