Member of Fatah’s Executive Committee Saleh Al-Zig announced yesterday the formation of a united coordination committee for Palestinian refugee camps in Palestine and the diaspora, Wafa News Agency reported.

Al-Zig, who is the chief of Fatah’s refugee committee, said that the announcement concluded a series of meetings held in response to the “continuous conspiracy” against UNRWA, which aims to end its services.

He said that poverty, unemployment and deterioration of living conditions are the natural result of the reduction of UNRWA’s services, stating that the closure of Qalqilya Hospital in the occupied West Bank and a number of schools in Jerusalem is a proof of this.

Fatah officials have said that all active bodies related to the issue, both inside and outside the refugee camps, are able to join the committee.

Al-Zig hailed the Palestinian Authority (PA) government headed by Rami Hamadallah for offering aid to the Palestinians and reducing the poverty and unemployment rates amongst Palestinian refugees at the same time the international community has ignored them and their right to return.

Members of the new committee stressed that it is important the PA President Mahmoud Abbas enables the six million Palestinian refugees to choose their representatives.
