The Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP) has called for the Palestinian Authority to cancel the “collective punishment measures” against the Gaza Strip, Safa News Agency reported on Tuesday. The group pointed out that the PA’s measures caused a lot of harm to junior employees and the poor in the besieged enclave.

According to the Safa report, the DFLP hailed the Hamas decision to dissolve the administrative committee in Gaza. It also called for the movement to cancel all of the committee’s decisions.

Addressing the PA, the DFLP said that it should respond immediately in order to end the ten-year-old “destructive division” between Hamas and Fatah. The Ramallah-based PA government must, it insisted, take up its responsibilities in Gaza as soon as possible.

Furthermore, the DFLP suggested that PA President Mahmoud Abbas should open dialogue immediately with all of the Palestinian factions to form a national unity government. This, it said, will get rid of all the signs of the internal division and lead to general elections, which should be based on the system of proportional representation.

In conclusion, the DFLP thanked all Palestinians, as well as Egypt for its role in seeking reconciliation between the Fatah-led PA and Hamas.
