The Palestinian Authority Education Minister has briefed a British delegation about the Israeli violations against the PA’s education system and its attempts to erase Palestinian identity, Safa News Agency reported on Tuesday. Sabri Saidam reiterated that the Israeli occupation authorities continue to damage the education of Palestinian children, especially in Jerusalem and Hebron.

He asked the members of the delegation to report back to the decision-makers in Britain the Israeli violations that they have seen with their own eyes. Such violations, the minister insisted, are flagrant breaches of international laws and conventions, and include the destruction of school buildings and facilities.

Saidam was at pains to point out that the syllabus used in PA schools does not “incite” against Israel or anyone else, nor is it “anti-Semitic” in any way. This is a common criticism from the Israeli government.

The Palestinians, he explained, have great love for education and knowledge, and his ministry has extensive plans to improve the quality of learning for children in the occupied territories.
