Member of Fatah Executive Committee Azzam Al-Ahmad called for the UK to correct its historic mistake which resulted in the Balfour Declaration by “immediately” recognising the State of Palestine, Al-Wattan Voice reported yesterday.

During a meeting with the British Consul General Philip Hall, Al-Ahmad discussed the latest developments on the Palestinian issue and asked the UK official to recognise the State of Palestine as part of its support for a two-state solution.

Al-Ahmad also met with the Italian Consul Fabio Sokolowicz at his office in Ramallah and briefed him and the UK official about the Palestinian reconciliation and the National Accord Government’s actions to meet its responsibilities in the Gaza Strip.

The UK and Italian consuls announced their support for ending Palestinian division, stressing that this would push forward the possibilities to achieve a breakthrough in the peace process.
