Israeli occupation suppresses Anti-Balfour Palestinian protest in front of the British Consulate

Today, the Israeli occupation forces suppressed a large protest in front of the British consulate in occupied Jerusalem to demand UK apology for the Balfour Declaration on its centennial.

The Palestinian News Agency reported that dozens of Palestinian figures, led by the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem and the Palestinian Territories Sheikh Mohammed Hussein, the Governor of Jerusalem, Minister Adnan al-Husseini, the Head of Education in Jerusalem, Samir Jibril, organized a protest on the centennial of the Balfour Declaration.  A large number of representatives of national forces and institutions and students waved Palestinian flags, black flags and banners in various languages ​​against the Balfour Declaration and others banner that demanded the UK to apologize for the declaration.

The news agency also explained that occupation forces have beaten the female and male protestors in front of the consulate under the pretext of raising the Palestinian flags, while they arrested the Jerusalem activist Mohammed Abu Najma.

The Israeli occupation forces also arrested three young people in violent confrontations in Shu’fat camp in the centre of occupied Jerusalem.

Palestinian sources mentioned that a large group of soldiers and intelligence officers broke into the camp on the side of the military checkpoint, and were confronted by young people in the area with stones, while soldiers fired toxic sound and gas bombs and rubber bullets.

The Palestinian News Agency added that members of the unit of the undercover Israeli occupation forces arrested three young people during the confrontations after widely beating them.

The Israeli occupation forces stormed the camp yesterday, raided several houses and shops in the neighbourhood of Ras Shehadeh, near the camp, arrested a young man and confiscated many of the citizens’ belongings.
