Hamas yesterday said it was sure Israel’s intelligence agency, Mossad, assassinated Tunisian drone engineer, Mohammed Al-Zawari on 15 December 2016 in front of his home in Sfax, Tunisia.

“We are absolutely certain that the Israeli Mossad planned and carried out the assassination with logistical cooperation from other security agencies and bodies,” movement leader Mohamed Nazzal said during a press conference held yesterday in Beirut.

Nazzal pointed out that the movement has immediately formed a commission of inquiry to investigate Al-Zawari’s assassination.

“The movement’s announcement that Al-Zawari was a member was issued despite all considerations because we found ourselves in front of a fact that must be announced,” Nazzal said, noting that Al-Zawari had been a member of Hamas for ten years.

Al-Zawari, a Tunisian drone engineer, was assassinated with a silencer gun in front of his house.

He is reported to have designed the Ababeel drones which Hamas used during the Israeli aggression on Gaza in 2014.
