Hezbollah’s political bloc has welcomed the return of Prime Minister Saad Hariri to Lebanon and the positive statements that he has issued saying they may return the country to its normal state.

The bloc said in a press statement after its weekly meeting yesterday that it was proud of the remarkable way in which the administration of President Michel Aoun has dealt with the crisis with the support and solidarity of Speaker Nabih Berri.

“We are pleased by the recent political developments which came as a result of the Lebanese adherence to their unity and rejection of external dictates,” the statement added without further details.

“We are waiting for major strategic changes in our region after the defeat of Daesh militant group,” it added.

The statement has also condemned the “indiscriminate and inflammatory rhetoric used by some Gulf states to distort the resistance”.

On Wednesday, Hariri said he had accepted a request by Aoun to suspend his resignation to give time for more consultations.

Hariri arrived in Beirut on Tuesday more than two weeks after issuing an abrupt resignation from Riyadh. There had been fears that he was being held in Saudi and forced to resign.

Though he has now travelled to France and returned to Lebanon, his children are still in Saudi and did not travel with him.
