Take me to hospital immediately because my health situation has become serious and deteriorates day after day, former Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi demanded in court yesterday.

“I did not refuse the court’s decision to undergo a medical examination,” he stressed during a court session.

“At my own expense, I request to undergo a medical examination under the supervision of specialised doctors,” he said.

“I need to be transferred to a private hospital immediately, I can’t see with my left eye,” Morsi reiterated.

Responding to the former president’s demands, the judge stressed that the medical examination request must be signed off by the prison doctors first to decide on whether the defendant requires the medical check.
