Israeli occupation forces are continuing to expand the military area it established 16 years ago in Hebron, Palestinian sources have said.

According to local sources, the occupation forces today erected six caravans in the camp near Tel Armida, which overlooks Hebron’s Old City.

Occupation forces began moving the caravans to the area yesterday, the sources added, in addition to erecting an iron gate and military watchtower in the area.

The Hebron Rehabilitation Committee said it had filed an objection in an Israeli court in effort to stop the expansion.

Israel was angered in July following the UNESCO declaration that the Old City of Hebron is a Palestinian World Heritage Site endangered by Israel. In response, Israel has pledged to cut its funding to the UN. Right-wing settlers have urged the Israeli government to remain defiant in the face of the UNESCO resolution.
