Houthi leader: Saudi Arabia, UAE suffered historic defeat in Yemen

December 5, 2017 at 9:38 am

The leader of Houthis in Yemen, Abdul Malik Al-Houthi, said Saudi Arabia, the UAE, the US and UK have suffered a historic defeat in Yemen.

“The Houthis have succeeded in thwarting all conspiracies and plots planned by treacherous militias,” he said in a televised address yesterday.

He praised “the responsible and conscious attitude of honourable people at the General People’s Congress.”

“We thwarted a big conspiracy that posed a serious threat to Yemen and the other side was always evading our attempts to stop the plot.”

Al-Houthi said the forces of former Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh, who was assassinated yesterday in a road ambush, fought on behalf of the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen.

“The people were surprised by the position of this group, which has long opposed the aggression and then cooperated with it,” he said, adding: “I called to thwart this conspiracy during the meeting of Yemen elders several months ago.”

Al-Houthi accused Saleh and his group of coordinating with the countries who have attacked Yemen as they provided air cover for them in an attempt to help them take over control of Sana’a.
