The Popular Conference for Palestinians Abroad has expressed its anger and concern regarding US President Donald Trump’s intention to sign an order to move the American embassy to Jerusalem.

The organisation called the decision a dangerous and irresponsible measure.

In a statement, the PCPA notes that if Trump were to indeed execute this measure, it would constitute a blatant violation of the principles of international legitimacy, international humanitarian law, and all resolutions related to the Palestinian cause, especially those issued by the UN Security Council and General Assembly and those issued by UNESCO relating to Jerusalem.

The PCPA said such a move would put an end to the peace process.

It also noted in its statement that this decision strengthens the position of Israel and its extremist government regarding Palestinian rights and allows Israel to continue its aggressive acts and violations against Palestinian land, sanctities and people.

In its statement, the PCPA listed a number of recommended steps that must be taken in this regard, including calling for the Palestinian, Arab and Muslim communities to participate in a Day of Rage on Friday. It also recommended that the PA, Arab and Muslim governments take a firm stand against the American move and take action beginning with severing ties with Israel.

The PCPA also believes that urgent sessions must be held in the UN Security Council and General Assembly in order to present draft bills condemning America’s actions.

It also believes the PA and Jordanian governments should file immediate complaints in the International Criminal Court against any action that may change the status quo in Jerusalem.

The PCPA concluded its statement by calling on all Palestinian factions and Palestinian forces and organisations to unite and stand side by side in these difficult times.
