The Palestinian Legislative Council has called upon the Palestinian Authority to rescind recognition of Israeli sovereignty over any part of historic Palestine, even the land occupied since 1948.

The call was among the recommendations of the Jerusalem-Al-Aqsa Committee report, which was presented to the PLC on Thursday during an emergency session held in Gaza. Committee rapporteur, Ahmed Abu Halabiya said that the report rejects the US decision to recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and move its embassy from Tel Aviv to the Holy City.

Abu Halabiya warned that Israel is continuing to implement its Judaisation plans in Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque through illegal settlements and other measures. He called on the United States and President Donald Trump to reverse their unjust decision and apologise to the Palestinian people.

The report said that Palestinians around the world should denounce the US position and defend Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque by all means at their disposal. It also called on the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, the Arab League and the United Nations to support all Palestinian rights in Jerusalem and to condemn the US move.
