Scores of Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip today held protests at the Beit Hanoun crossing against the arrival of a Bahraini delegation to Israel yesterday.
Bahraini clerics arrived in Israel yesterday in what officials have described as a personal trip, however many believe the timing of the tour shows that it is an effort to improve relations between the Bahraini government and Israel.
The protesters called for banning the delegation should it decide to visit Gaza. They stressed that they are seen as traitors in contrast to the people of Bahrain who have been generous to the Palestinians and supported their struggle.
Yesterday, Palestinian guards at Al-Aqsa Mosque expelled members of the Bahraini delegation from the holy site following reports that it was in the city to “normalise and strengthen ties with Israel” and to deliver “message of peace and brotherhood to Israel”.
