A senior Hamas delegation yesterday met with Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri in Beirut, the Safa news agency reported.

Mousa Abu-Marzouk headed Hamas’ delegation which discussed the issue of Jerusalem and the latest developments in the region with Hariri.

Commenting on the visit, Abu-Marzouk said there was a strong Lebanese opposition to US President Donald Trump’s decision to recognise Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.

Abu-Marzouk added: “Specially today, Palestine needs the Lebanese support as well as the support of all the Arab and free states in the entire world in order to undermine the US plan.”

He noted that Hamas had done its best to push for the success of the internal Palestinian reconciliation, including handing over the ministries and crossing in Gaza to the unity government. Hamas has carried out all of Fatah’s demands on the ground, he added.
