Financial experts from Iran, Russia, Iraq and Syria met on Tuesday in the Iranian capital of Tehran to discuss ways to combat the financing of terrorist activities, Iran’s official IRNA news agency reported.

The meeting discussed channels of finance used by terrorists, the latest developments in the region and international cooperation in combating these activities and strengthening multilateral cooperation in this field.

The meeting has also discussed a draft memorandum of understanding (MoU) to regulate and facilitate cooperation between the four countries, which will be finalised in the near future.

It was also agreed to define a schedule for future meetings in order to enhance cooperation between the four countries where the next meeting will take place in Baghdad within months.
