Christmas celebrations have started in the blockaded Gaza Strip

Palestinian Christians in the blockaded Gaza Strip have started Christmas celebrations, noting that the occasion has been marred by the US recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.

Archbishop Mario da Silva led the Christmas prayer in the Latin Church for the Catholic Christians in Gaza.

“Jerusalem is the birthplace of peace and love,” he said. “We do not want it to be the place of crises and discord,” he added.

The Christians who attended the services prayed for a peaceful future for Palestine and unity with the entire world in order to end the Israeli occupation of Palestine.

Christian worshipers stressed that the Israeli occupation “is a source of harm for both Muslims and Christians.”
