Hamas: Israel media incites against Palestinian prisoners, freed prisoners

Israel’s media is working to create a rift among Palestinians and is inciting against Palestinian prisoners and freed prisoners, a senior Hamas official said yesterday.

Maher Obeid was speaking after Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth reported that he was planning resistance attacks against Israeli targets in the occupied West Bank.

“These reports do not deserve a comment because they are completely false,” he said before adding: “The Israeli media based its story on an anonymous source in the Palestinian Authority. This aimed to cause rift among the Palestinians.”

The report was likely a means to justify Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s procrastination in treating the issue of Israeli prisoners of war held in Gaza.
