Moroccan Foreign Minister, Nasser Bourita, said today that “the Palestinian cause has paid the price of the conflicts between the Arab countries.”

He made this statement during a meeting with the foreign committee of the parliament’s House of Representatives which was due to discuss an issue related to US President Donald Trump’s decision to recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and to move its embassy to the occupied city.

Bourita pointed out that “the Arab context does not serve the Palestinian cause.”

The minister described the Arab situation as “very difficult, especially in light of the internal conflict in several Arab countries. This negatively impacts their positions on the Palestinian cause and coordination in this regard.”

He called for awareness and coordination amongst Arab countries, especially given the regional and international developments.

Bourita also pointed out that his country has called for practical measures to support the Palestinian cause and Jerusalem and not to limit measures to statements and condemnations.

He called for isolating the American decision by persuading several countries not to support the decision.
