Palestinian factions have reiterated their demand for an end to security coordination between the Palestinian Authority (PA) and Israeli occupation forces, after the Israeli army attacked a house in Jenin and murdered a young man on Thursday.

The Israeli army said it had received information that a group of Palestinian fighters who had killed an extremist settler from the Havat Gilad outpost near Nablus earlier this month were hiding inside a house in Burqin Valley, west of Jenin, in the northern West Bank.

Israeli special forces surrounded the house which belonged to the late leader of the al-Qassam Brigades, Sheikh Nasser Jarrar, and armed clashes took place with at least one person inside the targeted house.

The Israeli army eventually shelled the house with rockets which led to the killing of Ahmed Isma’il Jarrar, 31. Two Israeli soldiers were also wounded in the confrontation.

A spokesman of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) Abdul Latif Al-Qanou said in remarks to Quds Press: “What happened last night in Jenin, the Israeli occupation forces’ pursuit of the resistance fighters, and the death of martyr Ahmed Jarrar in this heroic battle would not have been possible without the security coordination between the Palestinian Authority and the Israeli security services”.

“What is needed is a practical translation for the Palestinian Central Council decision to stop security coordination with the occupation” he added.

Al-Qanou stressed that the confrontation with Israeli forces in Jenin last night confirms that “our people continue to resist, their will can not be broken and all attempts to suppress and eradicate it will fail”. Meanwhile, a member of the Democratic Front Political Bureau, Talal Abu Zarifa, said the Palestinian resistance of the Israeli occupation forces in Jenin is a natural reaction to the Israeli policy of arrest and invasions of Palestinian cities.
