Israel’s Education and Diaspora Affairs Minister, Naftali Bennett has confirmed media reports that Poland has cancelled a planned visit by him to Warsaw after issuing remarks over Poland’s involvement in the Holocaust.
“The Polish government cancelled my visit to Poland because I mentioned the crimes of its people” he said in a statement.
Ties between Israel and Poland have been strained after Poland passed a controversial bill that criminalizes accusing the Polish people of involvement in the Holocaust.
The bill still needs to be signed by the President into law.
