A Saudi court sentenced a Saudi citizen to 11 years in jail on several charges including accusing the government of blasphemy, Okaz newspaper reported yesterday.

The paper said the Specialised Criminal Court in Riyadh sentenced a member of Daesh to 11 years imprisonment.

The man was found guilty of accusing the Saudi government of blasphemy, planning to carry out a terrorist act against security forces, attempting to obtain a firearm and supporting Daesh.

The man was also convicted of “preparing and distributing material that would harm public order via a Twitter account he created” as well as following the news of Daesh.

The court also banned the man from travel for another 11 years after his release.
