Cleaning companies operating in the Gaza Strip hospitals on Sunday decided to suspend the strike launched over unpaid salaries and give a last chance to the responsible parties to solve the crisis.

According to the Palestinian Information Centre, the companies said in a statement that discussions were held with officials from the Ministry of Health in Ramallah and Gaza on the staff salaries which have not been paid for six months.

It was pledged during the meeting to pay the oustanding salaries within two weeks, according to the statement.

Cleaning workers in Gaza hospitals launched a 15-day strike after they did not receive their wages for several months as a result of the Palestinian Authority’s procrastination in fulfilling its obligations toward the Palestinian people in Gaza.

Cleaning services in the Gaza Strip are provided by 13 companies to 13 hospitals, 51 primary health centres and other 22 facilities of the Ministry of Health.
