Scores of settlers stormed the Arab town of Kifl Haris, in the occupied West Bank city of Salfit, to perform religious rituals at a Muslim holy site this morning.

According to eyewitnesses, Israeli occupation forces were deployed in the town before the arrival of the settlers; they closed access points to the area and erected barriers along entry points to the town preventing the movement of Palestinians.

Witnesses added that the settlers performed their religious rites and celebrations, leaving before the Palestinians students went to school.

Kifl Haris is home to the Tomb of Joshua.

The Israeli occupation authorities announced on Sunday the imposition of a comprehensive security cordon on the occupied West Bank and the closure of the crossings into the Gaza Strip during the Jewish “Purim” holiday, Quds Press reported.

The cordons came into effect on Tuesday.
