March 9, 2018 at 9:35 am

Moroccan authorities yesterday arrested a Swiss national who had an international arrest warrant issued against him over suspicion of sexually exploiting minors.

According to a statement by the country’s national security apparatus, police in the Moroccan capital of Rabat apprehended a 58-year-old Swiss suspect who is suspected of involvement in the sexual exploitation of underage girls in his country of origin.

The arrest warrant, the statement explained, was issued internationally by Interpol.

The authority did not specify the date of his arrest.

The man is being held in police custody while authorities look into an extradition request by Swiss authorities.

“This operation is part of the strengthening of international security cooperation, particularly in the fight against all forms of cross-border crime,” the statement added.
