Al-Sisi asks Abbas to go ahead with internal reconciliation

In a telephone call Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi has asked the Palestinian Authority (PA) and Fatah President Mahmoud Abbas to go ahead with the reconciliation of Palestinian factions and to contain disparities, Al-Resalah newspaper reported yesterday.

In a statement spokesman of the Egyptian Presidency Bassam Radi said: “The President discussed the latest Palestinian developments with the Palestinian president.

“[Al-Sisi] stressed the necessity of going ahead with reconciliation with the Palestinian factions and to work for containing disparities and to overcome all the difficulties facing these efforts in order to achieve unity between the Palestinian people.”

Radi also said: “As part of the regular discussions and consultations, the two presidents discussed the latest developments of Arab and regional issues.”

Abbas, according to Radi, thanked Egypt for its historic efforts.
