Ukrainian President, Petro Poroshenko discussed with Qatar’s Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani bilateral cooperation between their countries, including ways to supply Ukraine with Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG).

“We agreed that Qatar is ready to provide liquefied gas to us,” Poroshenko said on Monday during his official visit to Qatar.

A statement by the Ukrainian president’s press office said the president proposed to supply his country with Qatari LNG via Poland or Turkey.

The Ukrainian president arrived on Monday in Qatar for an official visit during which he met with Qatar Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and other senior officials.

The visit saw the signing of a number of agreements including an agreement on military technical cooperation.

The two sides agreed to hold a meeting for the joint committee on economic cooperation later this year, and discussed the possibility of Ukrainian companies participation in infrastructure projects in Qatar to prepare for hosting the FIFA World Cup in 2022.
