Yemen’s Hadi meets UN new envoy in Riyadh

Yemeni President, Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi met on Tuesday with the United Nations new envoy to Yemen, Martin Griffiths in his office in the Saudi capital, Riyadh.

During their meeting, Hadi reiterated his adherence to peaceful solutions accusing Houthi rebels of indifference to the Yemeni people suffering.

Hadi has also accused Houthi rebels of failing to honor their promises during previous dialogue and indifference about the international community and the international legitimacy resolutions including UN resolutions as well as implementing an Iranian agenda which is hostile to Yemen and neighbouring countries.

The UN envoy, Martin Griffith expressed his optimism to achieve the Yemeni people aspirations towards security and stability. Griffith stressed that he will make concerted efforts to achieve peace on the basis of the GCC initiative and the National Dialogue Conference outcomes and the relevant UN Security Council resolutions, particularly resolution 2216.

The UN envoy has also expressed his aspiration to work with the Yemeni government and engage with all stakeholders without exception to achieve peace in Yemen.

This is the first meeting between President Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi with the new UN envoy to Yemen, Martin Griffith.
