Bahrain will take “tough measures” against the “chaos” which is caused by social media users and which harms the Kingdom’s social fabric and stability, the interior minister said yesterday.

Sheikh Rashid Bin Abdullah Al Khalifa said: “Tough measures have been taken to address unprecedented disruptive social media chaos.”

Adding that fake accounts have been setup which claim to belong to the Royal Court.

“We carefully monitor these dangerous accounts, which spread inaccurate information about both people and institutions,” he said, adding that some of those who manage these accounts have been identified while the ministry continues to investigate others.
