Saudi Arabia sacks teachers for ‘Muslim Brotherhood affiliation’

March 26, 2018 at 8:59 am

Saudi Arabia has sacked teachers and education board member who it says have been affected by the Muslim Brotherhood ideology, the New Khaleej reported yesterday.

Security and intelligence agencies worked together to pinpoint those targeted, the spokesman for the Ministry of Education Mubarak Al-Ossaimi said.

The move comes as part of Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman’s orders to fight “extremist ideologies” in the Kingdom, Al-Ossaimi continued.

The Muslim Brotherhood was declared a terrorist organisation in Saudi Arabia in May 2014.

Schools and universities in the Kingdom have also been instructed to host meetings to warn against the Muslim Brotherhood’s ideology, while school books and teacher training will be altered to incorporate this new agenda.
