Palestinian religious scholars in the Gaza Strip have taken part in a gathering organised in Central Gaza City in support of the “Great March of Return” scheduled to take place on 30 March. Media reports said that the Union of Palestine Scholars organised the event in cooperation with the Palestinian Ministry of Religious Endowments.

“Participation in the ‘Great March of Return’ is a religious, legal, national and humanitarian duty,” explained Dr Marwan Abu-Ras, a Palestinian MP and Head of the Union of Palestine Scholars in Gaza. The march, insisted the Union, will be both large and peaceful.

“There will be no confrontation with the enemy,” said Sheikh Saber Ahmed. He called for Muslim scholars all over the world to support this march, which comes in support of Palestinian rights, as well as the UN and human rights organisations, as part of their support for the Palestinian right to return to their land occupied by Israel. “The right of return is not subject to the statute of limitations,” he added.

All of the Palestinian factions are planning to take part in the “Great March of Return” planned to take place on 30 March, which marks Palestine Land Day.
