Some 150 young men and women took part in a march towards the Israeli border today in the build up to the Great March of Return which is due to take place tomorrow.

Speaking ahead of the event one of the organisers, Khaled Safi, said: “A group of young men and women are carrying kites which they will fly towards the occupation in a peaceful manner ahead of the March of Return.”

“It is also a message to the occupation.”

Tents have been set up in several areas along the Gaza Strip and there are also caravans and portable toilets ahead of tomorrow’s mass march to mark Land Day.

Israel has beefed up security along its border with Gaza and threatened to use live ammunition against anyone who comes close to the border fence.

According to Israeli media, Israel, Jordan, Egypt and the Palestinian Authority are holding “secret” talks with the intention of preventing the Palestinian-planned “Great March of Return”.
