Two decades imprisonment for two teachers who conspired with Iran

The Specialized Criminal Court in Riyadh convicted two citizens of joining the terrorist group the “Iraqi Hezbollah Brigades” and receiving trainings on using weapons and explosives in its camps in Iran and Iraq for the purpose of carrying out terrorist acts in Saudi Arabia. The two accused teachers were respectively sentenced to 25 and 22 years in prison.

The head of the three-judge judicial session issued initial verdict on the conviction of the two teachers who are accused of joining the terrorist group and receiving trainings on dismantling, installing and using weapons, as well as the use of explosives for the purpose of carrying out terrorist acts in Saudi Arabia.

The two teachers were also convicted of preparing, storing and sending things that would harm public order by communicating with a suspect in Iran via social media websites, and providing him with information related to the oil pipeline linking the province of Abqaiq with Yanbu.

The first teacher was also convicted of financing terrorism and terrorist acts by paying his and one of the detainees’ traveling expenses to Iran.

The head of the joint judicial session decided to dismiss the prosecutor’s request to sentence the defendants to death because there is no need for it and to avoid bloodshed.

The first accused teacher, 42, was also sentenced to 25 years in prison while the the second teacher, 40, was sentenced to 22 years in prison. Both teacher’s mobile phone were confiscated, and they were both banned from travel following the end of their sentences.
