Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has asked his cabinet ministers to refrain from commenting on the recent strike against a Syrian airbase due to the sensitivity of the subject.

Netanyahu made his remarks during a security cabinet meeting on Wednesday to discuss the situation on Israel’s northern border and the latest developments in Syria, Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper reported. However, he also stressed the importance of Israel’s right to defend itself.

The Israel Defence Forces, meanwhile, have raised their state of alert to “high” on the northern border in anticipation of a retaliatory strike by Iran. The Israeli attack on the T4 Airbase in central Syria on Monday killed seven Iranian military advisers.
