The Network of Palestinian NGOs and human rights groups yesterday sent an urgent call for Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas to pay the salaries of public servants in Gaza, the Safa news agency reported.

More than 100 NGOs and rights groups from the besieged Gaza Strip, the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem signed the message sent to Abbas. They also asked him to lift the Israeli siege imposed on Gaza and stop the dangerous collapse of the coastal enclave.

They asked the PA to immediately pay the salaries of the employees, stressing “this is a natural right guaranteed by law”.

In addition, they asked him separate the rights of Gaza’s residents and their basic services from the political conflicts.

The rights groups called for the international community and the UN to afford urgent relief for the Gaza Strip, mainly the health care sector.
