As many as five crew members were killed when a cargo plane crashed minutes after taking off near Libya’s Sharara oilfield, a security source said.
The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the cargo plane usually carries supplies to the oilfield by air after the road to Ubari was closed as a result of the unrest in the area.
According to the source, a technical error propbably caused the cargo plane to crash. One crew member survived.
There was no immediate comment from the Libyan national reconciliation government in Tripoli which governs the field.
