The Egyptian army yesterday gathered dozens of military vehicles in the southern Rafah area of Sinai ahead of a planned operation allegedly against Daesh militants.
Officials have notified Israel of the impending operation and it, in turn, has warned residents in its southern settlements near the Gaza border that they may hear loud explosions over the coming weeks.

Tribal sources told Al-Araby Al-Jadeed that “the army began to besiege areas south of Rafah since the early hours of dawn after the arrival of reinforcements from various areas.”

Israel’s Channel 14 reported that “several Egyptian tanks were stationed in the border triangle between Israel, Egypt and Gaza, and the Eshkol Council was given noticed of extensive active in the area.”
