A mass rally will be organised in the Moroccan capital, Rabat, on Sunday to commemorate Nakba Day and in solidarity with the Great March of Return which has been taking place in the besieged Gaza Strip.

The Moroccan Working Group for Palestine and the Moroccan Association for Solidarity with the Palestinian Struggle are organising the marches.

Coordinator of the Moroccan Working Group for Palestine, Abdelkarim Al-Alami, said yesterday that “the march scheduled for next Sunday comes in solidarity with the Palestinian people’s struggle to establish an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.”

Al-Alami added that the march represents “a declaration by the Moroccan people of their collective and total rejection of the Zionist-American resolutions which declared Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.”

He pointed out that “the march is also a means through which the Moroccan people can engage in the activities of the Palestinian Great March of Return”.

The Great Marches of Return began on 30 March with thousands of Palestinians gathering near the Gaza border with Israel to demand their right of return to the villages and towns which they were expelled from in 1948.
