Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas yesterday arrived in the Chilean capital of Santiago as part of a two-day official visit.
Abbas is scheduled to meet with his Chilean counterpart, Sebastian Benireira, as well as a number of officials to discuss issues of common interest, the official Palestinian news agency WAFA reported.
Abbas began an official tour of Latin America starting with Venezuela on Sunday. He is expected to visit Cuba later.
The Palestinian president’s adviser for foreign and international affairs, Nabil Shaath, said Abbas’ visit aims to mobilise more political support for the Palestinian cause.
