Iran’s Velayati: nuclear talks with Europeans won’t be 'fruitful'

May 17, 2018 at 12:03 am

Senior advisor to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, Ali Akbar Velayati ruled out the possibility that talks with Europeans to save Iran’s nuclear deal would be fruitful, Wednesday.

“I rule out that the talks with the Europeans will be fruitful” Velayati said in remarks quoted by Fars news agency. “I hope we can reach a solution, but how long should we wait? We must achieve self-sufficiency” he added.

The senior Iranian official made the remarks after the United States withdrew from the 2015 nuclear deal.
