Iran: No one can force us out of Syria

May 21, 2018 at 4:48 pm

No one can fore Iran to leave Syria and its presence in the country is at the request of the government, the country’s foreign ministry spokesman said today.

“Our presence in Syria was at the request of the government of that country, and our goal is to fight terrorism,” the official news agency IRNA reported Bahram Qasimi as saying

“Iran will continue to provide assistance for Syria as long as there is a terrorist threat and as long as the country wants Iran to continue its support to it.”

“No one can compel Iran to do so because we have our own independent policies,” Qassimi continued.

He added that those who had to leave Syria are those who entered it without the permission of the government.

Alexander Lavrentiev, the Russian president’s envoy, had said that Vladimir Putin wanted all foreign troops to withdraw from Syria as “including Americans, Turks, Hezbollah and Iranians”.
