Israeli occupation forces have deployed a large number of soldiers in Jerusalem on the second Friday of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

Large numbers of Palestinians arrived at the military checkpoints separating Palestinian cities in the occupied West Bank from Jerusalem, while the Israeli occupation forces prevented thousands of people from reaching the holy city to pray.

Occupation forces tightened their security measures at the military checkpoints at the entrances to Jerusalem, and stopped many Palestinians from the West Bank, Gaza Strip and Arab cities in Israel from performing Friday and Taraweeh (late night) prayers in Al-Aqsa and the Dome of the Rock.

Israeli occupation forces claim the strict measures in Jerusalem “aim to ensure the right of worship for Muslims” at a time when they continue to protect settlers during their daily storming of the Muslim holy site.
