Algeria to fine shops that close on Eid day

Algeria will imposed large fines on traders who close their shops during the Muslim festival of Eid Al-Fitr which is due to be observed this weekend.

Officials have prepared lists of 4,594 traders in the capital Algiers who will have to keep their businesses open during the holidays.

In addition to the fine, traders who refuse to implement the decision will have their shops closed for a period ranging from one to two months.

The traders include those selling fruit and vegetables, bakeries, cafes, restaurants and petrol stations.
