Algeria’s internet speed ranks 134 out of 135 countries

Algeria has ranked 134 out of 135 countries in terms of fixed internet speed, a new report has revealed.

The report issued by the Speed ​​Test website for May 2018 showed that the fixed broadband speed in Algeria is only 3.86 Mbps right before Venezuela which has 3.81 Mbps.

According to the report, Morocco ranked first in the Maghreb region and 98 globally with 13.71 Mbps followed by Tunisia which ranked 120 globally with 7.82 Mbps. Despite suffering political and security turmoil Libya came ahead of Algeria with a broadband speed of 7.46 Mbps ranking 126 globally.

Algeria also ranked 121 out of 125 countries in terms of mobile internet speed, while Morocco ranks 72 and Tunisia 71 in this field.

Information expert Dr. Othman Abdel-Lush called on the Minister of Post and Information Technology Houda-Imane Faraoun to work and overcome this delay saying the minister is interested in the political aspect and is not aware of the digital delay which could cause Algeria to be isolated from the world countries.
