A Palestinian youth succumbed this morning to wounds he sustained during the Great March of Return protests in Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip.

Spokesperson of the Gaza Ministry of Health, Ashraf Al-Qidra, confirmed in a statement that Ahmad Ziad Tawfiq Al-Assi, 21, succumbed to his wounds at the European Hospital in Gaza City.

Al-Qidra pointed out that Al-Assi was injured in the head by Israeli forces during protests in eastern Khan Yunis days ago.

The ministry added that Al-Assi’s death brings the total number of Palestinians killed in protests since 30 March to 126.

The Great March of Return protests were launched by thousands of Palestinian civilians in Gaza who called for an end to the 11-year siege of the Strip, their right to return to the ancestral homes their families were forced out of to make way for the creation of the state of Israel and to protest against the relocation of the US embassy to occupied Jerusalem.
